Voice perception

Our ears are trained to detect and distinguish even the slightest variations in sound.

Voice perception does not depend on the person producing the sound, but on the listener, making it a subjective experience, unique to each individual. Those who conduct perceptual analysis of voice must be trained to assign specific values to the various parameters that characterize it.

As is well known, vocal quality depends both on laryngeal function and the resonance within the vocal tract.

Titze defines vocal quality as the result of the sum of laryngeal anatomy, vocal tract configuration, and vocal training.

The perceptual analysis of voice aims to assign an objective value to the subjective (psychoacoustic) qualities of the voice, outlining the timbre and acoustic characteristics that define it.
